Kalash and Fairy Meadows from Karachi

This is yet another successful itinerary which I designed myself with the help of internet travel forums, traveler friends, and instincts but without booking a trip from any travel company.

The itinerary included a visit to the primitive Kalash Valley via the masterpiece Lowari Tunnel to attend the Kalasha Spring Festival - Joshi before making a big loop through the high Shandur Pass all the way to the Fairy Meadows - the foot of the killer Nanga Parbat, the world's 9th highest peak - where we luckily got the snowfall in the month of May when the rest of the country had been complaining about the scorching sun in the hot month of May!

So here it goes:

May 12, 2012: Departed from Karachi via Karakoram Express for Faisalabad overnight.

May 13, 2012: Reached Faisalabad, continued to Rawalpindi, and then overnight to Chitral.

May 14, 2012: Reached Chitral and continued to Kalash valley of Rumbur. Stayed there.

May 15, 2012: Stayed in Kalash (Rumbur Valley) and attended the Joshi Festival

May 16, 2012: Stayed in Kalash and trekked to the last Pakistani village – Sheikhenende

May 17, 2012: Kalash to Chitral and then to Mastuj. Night stay in Mastuj.

May 18, 2012: Mastuj to Gilgit. Night stay in Gilgit.

May 19, 2012: Gilgit to Raikot Bridge to Tattu (Jhal) to Fairy Meadows. Night stay in FM.

May 20, 2012: Stayed in Fairy Meadows.

May 21, 2012: Stayed in Fairy Meadows. Enjoyed the snowfall.

May 22, 2012: Stayed in Fairy Meadows. More snowfall.

May 23, 2012: Fairy Meadows to Jhal to Raikot Bridge to Chilas. Continued overnight to Rawalpindi.

May 24, 2012: Rawalpindi to Faisalabad then continued back to Karachi overnight
May 25, 2012: Back to Karachi
